EU Aims to Challenge China's Solar Power Industry Dominance

Europe aims to triple the amount of energy generated by solar by 2030, making it the biggest source of energy by the end of the decade. However, China dominates the solar power industry, making 97% of the silicon wafers that go into solar panels and more than three-quarters of the world's solar panels themselves. Germany, which was once a global leader in solar power, lost its industry to China after the government changed the law, making renewables more expensive. The EU aims to offer big incentives to bring back the solar industry, but it may take a while to pass the Net Zero Industry Act.
