Salmonella Jalapeño Recall Expands to Major Retailers After 345 Illnesses

A jalapeño recall tied to Salmonella has expanded to products sold at Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Target, Hannaford, Kroger, Stop & Shop, Whole Foods and more, after 345 illnesses and 36 hospitalizations across 27 states. The jalapeños, grown in Sinaloa, Mexico and distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors to Taylor Farms, prompted a broad FDA/FSIS public health alert; consumers should not eat or sell recalled items, discard them if found, and sanitize any surfaces or containers that touched the product.
