Lettuce tied to Taco Bell outbreak spurs precautionary ingredient removals
A multistate cyclospora outbreak is linked to shredded iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms and sold at some Taco Bell locations. The CDC reports nearly 7,000 cases confirmed or under investigation since May 1, with at least 141 hospitalizations; the Midwest is the center of the outbreak, affecting four states—Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky—where Taco Bell has removed limited ingredients as a precaution. Michigan alone has reported more than 4,300 cases amid ongoing investigations, with officials noting the outbreak’s scope may extend beyond the affected restaurants.
