Eli Lilly's Tirzepatide Shows Promise in Treating Fatty Liver Disease

Eli Lilly's weight loss drug tirzepatide, also known as Zepbound, has shown promise as a treatment for fatty liver disease in a mid-stage trial. The drug demonstrated positive results in helping patients become free of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) with no worsening of liver scarring. This could potentially expand insurance coverage for weight loss drugs, as there are currently no cures or medicines available to directly treat MASH. The drug works by activating two naturally produced hormones in the body, and Eli Lilly plans to move forward with phase three trials based on the encouraging phase two results.
