Cancer patients face dire scenarios due to drug shortage.

A shortage of cancer medications, including Pluvicto, methotrexate, cisplatin, fluorouracil, and BCG, has created dire circumstances for many patients diagnosed with the disease, forcing them and their doctors to make difficult decisions. The shortage of cancer drugs is due to a lack of investment from manufacturers, poor manufacturing practices at U.S. factories, and drug production moving overseas. Patients may be forced to turn to options that may not work as well, and others may die waiting for the medications in shortage to become available. The FDA is working to prevent drug shortages by requiring drugmakers to give the agency more advance notice about potential shortages or discontinuation of a drug.
