Contaminated eye drops cause multiple deaths and vision loss.

The death toll linked to contaminated eye drops has risen to three, with at least eight people going blind and four having their eyeballs surgically removed. The eye drops were contaminated with an antibiotic-resistant form of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an aggressive bacterium. More than 10 different brands of artificial tears have been recalled, with most cases linked to EzriCare and Delsam Pharma eye drops made by India-based Global Pharma Healthcare. The CDC has warned anyone with symptoms of an eye infection who used these eye drops to seek medical care immediately.
