FDA expands fruit recall due to hepatitis A contamination.

The FDA has issued a recall on frozen strawberries distributed to stores in 32 states, including Illinois, due to an outbreak of Hepatitis A on the west coast linked to organic strawberries imported from Mexico. Four companies whose strawberries may be contaminated issued a recall of select products, including Great Value and Simply Nature brands sold at Walmart, Costco, and Aldi. Hepatitis A is a highly contagious liver infection caused by the Hepatitis A virus, and symptoms include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, jaundice, dark urine, and pale stool. Nine people have been infected and three hospitalized so far. People are urged not to eat the frozen strawberries and to throw them away.
