"Promising Results: Bayer's Stem Cell Therapy Shows Improvement in Parkinson's Symptoms"

Bayer has announced that an experimental stem cell therapy developed by its subsidiary BlueRock has shown promising results in easing symptoms of Parkinson's disease in an early 12-patient trial. The treatment involved implanting dopamine-producing nerve cells derived from human pluripotent embryonic stem cells into the brain to restore neural networks damaged by Parkinson's. The trial participants experienced longer periods with well-controlled symptoms and shorter durations of worsening symptoms. The treatment was well tolerated with no major safety issues. Bayer plans to advance testing to the second stage and enroll more patients in the first half of 2024. Parkinson's disease affects over 10 million people worldwide and currently has no cure.
