"Zepbound: A Promising Treatment for Sleep Apnea, Study Shows"

A recent study has shown that Eli Lilly's weight loss drug Zepbound, containing the active ingredient tirzepatide, could potentially reduce the severity of sleep apnea in adults with obesity. The phase three clinical trial demonstrated that injections of the drug significantly reduced the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) compared to a placebo, with potential to be the first pharmaceutical treatment for the underlying disease. The drug is currently approved for chronic weight management and treatment of Type 2 diabetes, and Lilly plans to submit the data for global regulatory review.
