"2024 Solar Eclipse: Potential Impact on Cell Service and Planetary Visibility"
TL;DR
Cell service in New York may be affected during the April 8 eclipse due to the influx of visitors, with limited coverage expected in areas of large gatherings. Emergency services will still be accessible, but it's advised to plan ahead and not rely solely on phone communication. GPS and maps may also be affected temporarily due to potential disruptions in the ionosphere, but normalcy is expected to return after the eclipse.
