"Early Alzheimer's Detection: Spatial Navigation Issues as a Warning Sign"

A new study suggests that poor navigation abilities may predict Alzheimer's disease decades before symptoms appear, particularly in men. Using virtual reality, researchers found that people at greater risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease showed impairment in navigation tasks, even before other cognitive symptoms appeared. The findings may lead to the development of new diagnostic tools for early detection of Alzheimer's, potentially allowing for more timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment, especially with the emergence of anti-amyloid treatments considered most effective in the earliest stages of the disease.
