Kent County Measles Outbreak Expands to 20 Cases, Six Under 10
TL;DR
Delaware’s Division of Public Health reports 20 measles cases in the state, all in Kent County, including six among ages 0–9. Seven new cases have been added since Aug. 5, with two more pediatric cases, and all confirmed cases remain in Kent. Of the 13 cases previously reported, only one person was up to date on MMR vaccination. Delaware had declared a measles outbreak in July after five total cases. Health officials urge vaccination with two MMR doses (97% effective) and remind parents to vaccinate children at 12–15 months and again at four–six years; outbreaks are defined as three or more linked cases.
