NIH Launches Groundbreaking Clinical Trials for Long COVID Treatment

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has announced the launch of two clinical trials to test potential treatments for long COVID, with enrollment now open. The first trial, RECOVER-VITAL, will evaluate the use of Pfizer's antiviral pills, Paxlovid, in treating long-term symptoms. The second trial, RECOVER-NEURO, will test three approaches to address issues like brain fog and memory problems. Additional trials focusing on sleep and autonomic nervous system problems are expected to begin within the next few months. Long COVID affects over 6% of Americans and can cause symptoms such as extreme fatigue, brain fog, and loss of smell or taste.
