Schizophrenia and Altered Perception of Action.

A new study has found that individuals with delusions of control, a common feature in schizophrenia, perceive the time interval between their actions and their consequences differently from healthy people. The mechanism of intentional binding, which refers to the perceived temporal proximity between an action and its consequence, does not operate in schizophrenia patients experiencing delusions of control. The research may pave the way for predicting and improving the understanding of this disorder.
