Texas eliminates mandatory vehicle inspections, raises concerns for emissions testing and safety.

TL;DR
Texas will eliminate mandatory vehicle safety inspections in 2025, but emissions testing will still be required in 17 counties. Gasoline-powered vehicles between two and 24 years old, or upon the expiration of a vehicle’s initial two-year inspection sticker, must have an emissions test. Diesel-powered vehicles and motorcycles are exempt from emissions testing.
