Minnesota Governor Vetoes Rideshare Pay Bill Amid Uber Threats.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz vetoed a bill that would have established a minimum wage for rideshare drivers, including those who work for Uber and Lyft, after Uber threatened to pull out of areas outside of Minneapolis-St. Paul and institute premium pricing within the Twin Cities. The bill would have required drivers to be paid at least $1.45 per mile driven and at least 34 cents per minute, with lower rates for trips that start outside the Minneapolis metropolitan area. Governor Walz issued an executive order establishing a commission to study the issue and develop recommendations for the next legislative session.
