Albuquerque Mother Faces Charges in Infant's Death and Arrest.

Victoria Perla Romero, a mother from Albuquerque, has been indicted by a grand jury for multiple child abuse charges, including child abuse resulting in death, a year after her child died. Romero's past criminal history with drugs and fraud were reasons to keep her in custody. The investigation began after her almost two-year-old grandson showed up to daycare smelling like weed, and a drug test revealed meth and THC in his system. Romero's seven-month-old child died in June 2022, and the infant tested positive for meth. Romero is facing more than 20 years of imprisonment with more than $15,000 in fines.
