Two women, Helecia Morris and Donna Jung, have been sentenced to prison for beating and locking their 8-year-old son in a dark room for months. Morris, the biological mother, received eight years for child endangerment and an additional four years for unrelated offenses. Jung, who was married to Morris during the abuse but later moved away, received seven years for child endangerment. The boy endured severe beatings, isolation, and deprivation, including eating alone in the dark and urinating in a heating vent. The women also tried to convince others that the child was a "bad kid." The judge noted the horrific nature of the abuse and the women's lack of remorse.
