"Alert: Giant Jumping Worms with Shedding Abilities Spotted in Door County"

The City of Sturgeon Bay and Door County Invasive Species Team are investigating the possible presence of Asian Jumping Worms at the Sturgeon Bay Compost Site in Door County, Wisconsin. These invasive worms can quickly transform soil into dry pellets, affecting plant survival. The site has been closed to prevent further spread, but concerns remain about the mulch that has already been taken by visitors. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources advises precautions such as removing and destroying the worms, heat treatment, chemical treatment, and experimenting with alternative landscaping.
