Biden's Historic Amazon Visit Highlights Climate Commitment

President Biden has become the first sitting U.S. president to visit the Amazon rainforest, marking a significant step in his administration's climate and conservation efforts. During his trip to Manaus, Brazil, Biden announced that the U.S. has surpassed its goal of providing $11 billion annually in international climate financing. He also proclaimed November 17th as International Conservation Day and unveiled several initiatives, including a $50 million contribution to the Amazon Fund and the launch of the Brazil Restoration & Bioeconomy Finance Coalition. These efforts aim to combat deforestation, support Indigenous communities, and promote sustainable land management in the Amazon.
