"Canadian 'Super Pigs' Pose Imminent Threat to US Borders"

A population of hard-to-eradicate "super pigs" in Canada, which are crossbreeds of wild Eurasian boar and domestic swine, is rapidly spreading and threatening to invade the United States. These feral swine are highly adaptable, destructive, and reproduce quickly, causing significant damage to crops and wildlife. Efforts to control their population have been challenging, with hunting proving ineffective and even counterproductive. The U.S. states of Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana are taking preventive measures to stop the invasion, including implementing detection systems, using ground traps and net guns, and enhancing surveillance along the northern border. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is also funding programs to manage and limit the damage caused by wild pigs in various states.
