Indiana plastics plant fire raises health concerns and exposes EPA gap.

A plastics recycling plant in Indiana has been burning since Tuesday, sending black smoke over Richmond and surrounding towns in eastern Indiana and western Ohio. Some debris from the fire contains asbestos, officials warned, and residents have reported snow-like debris falling and a taste of chemicals in the air. The EPA said test results from air samples would most likely be known by Friday morning. Exposure to asbestos can cause various forms of mesothelioma and lung and ovarian cancer. Public schools in Richmond will remain closed Friday for the third day in a row.
