Toxicity concerns persist in East Palestine after train derailment and soil spill.

Residents of East Palestine, Ohio, have tested positive for cancer-causing toxins more than two months after a Norfolk Southern toxic train derailment. The derailment occurred on February 3, and 38 train cars derailed, 11 of which contained hazardous materials. Two days later, authorities said air and water tests showed it was safe for residents to return home. However, residents have since reported vision impairment, shortness of breath, sore throats, and other symptoms. At least 20 Norfolk Southern derailments since 2015 have involved chemical spills, according to Ohio officials.
