Biden Adviser Sullivan Arrives in Israel for Talks on Israel-Hamas War

Jake Sullivan, the U.S. national security adviser, is set to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other top Israeli officials as discussions on postwar Gaza and the Israeli prosecution of its war against Hamas intensify. The U.S. and Israel have been trying to bridge their differences since Hamas killed at least 1,200 people in southern Israel on October 7. Meanwhile, pressure is building on Egypt's heavily fortified border as hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians are living in squalid conditions in Rafah, near the border. Egypt fears a breach of the border could destabilize the region. Israeli forces have also raided hospitals in Gaza, detaining and interrogating medical staff, raising concerns about the well-being of patients and the survival of children on life support.
