China Imposes Sanctions on US Defence Firms for Arms Sales to Taiwan

China has announced sanctions against U.S. aerospace and defense companies Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin for supplying weapons to Taiwan. The Chinese foreign ministry invoked the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law and urged the U.S. to abide by the one-China principle, cease military cooperation with Taiwan, and halt arms sales, warning of forceful retaliation otherwise. The sanctions come amidst increased military activity near Taiwan, with Chinese naval formations and aircraft entering its air defense zone. China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, which has extraterritorial reach, is part of Beijing's efforts to counter punitive actions by foreign countries.
