US Imposes Sanctions on 4 Russians Linked to Navalny Poisoning

The US has imposed sanctions on four Russians allegedly involved in the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny in 2020. The individuals, who are members of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), were targeted under the Magnitsky Act for their role in the attack. The Treasury Department stated that they surveilled Navalny, broke into his hotel room, applied the chemical weapon to his belongings, and attempted to erase evidence. The State Department also imposed visa restrictions on the four men. Navalny, who has been imprisoned since his return to Moscow, was sentenced to 19 years on extremism charges. The US has called for his release.
