Malia and Sasha Step Into the Spotlight as Obama Center Opens in Chicago

At the Obama Presidential Center dedication in Chicago, former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama were joined by their daughters, Malia (27) and Sasha (25), for a rare joint appearance that underscored the family’s lasting legacy. The 19-acre Jackson Park campus drew thousands and featured performances by Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Bono and Jennifer Hudson. Malia, now making her mark in film and directing under the name Malia Ann, and Sasha, who earned a sociology degree from USC and has kept a relatively private profile, have largely stepped away from the public political spotlight since the White House years.
