Obama Center to Open on Juneteenth with Dedication in Chicago
The Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park, Chicago, will hold a June 18 dedication and open to the public June 19 (Juneteenth). The $850 million, privately funded campus includes a ticketed museum, a forum, a Chicago Public Library branch, public art and green space, plus Home Court arena; while the campus will be free to explore, museum entry requires a paid ticket. The project has faced years of delays and neighborhood displacement concerns, with housing protections enacted but no community-benefit agreement signed by the Obama Foundation.
