Buffalo Grove High School security guard dies after parking lot crash

Orlando Rivas, a 52-year-old Buffalo Grove resident and Buffalo Grove High School staff security guard, died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash in the high school parking lot on April 21. The vehicle struck a pole after leaving the lot; the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. Rivas was treated at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital before his death. The Buffalo Grove Police Department and school officials provided support resources as the community mourns.
