Record-breaking tornadoes wreak havoc in Delaware and New Jersey communities.

The tornado that hit Bridgeville and Ellendale, Delaware, on Saturday was the state's widest on record, with a width of 700 yards, and one of its two strongest, rated EF-3 on the tornado intensity scale. It was part of a system that produced dozens of tornadoes across the Mid-Atlantic, South, and Midwest during the past week. The tornado caused one death and destroyed buildings, power poles, and trees along its 14-mile path. The National Weather Service warned that Delaware has gone multiple years without any tornadoes, only to then have multiple occur in a short time.
