Severe Storms Ravage Grand Strand and Charleston, Causing Record Flooding

A tornado briefly touched down in the Socastee and Forestbrook area of Horry County, South Carolina, causing heavy damage along Socastee Boulevard and Palmetto Pointe. The city of Conway has moved to OPCON 1 due to flash flooding and multiple road closures. The Waccamaw Mall and several vehicles were damaged in the Fantasy Harbor area. High water and flooding are also affecting Pawleys Island and the Cherry Grove area of North Myrtle Beach. Power outages are impacting around 23,500 customers. The Georgetown School District has closed all schools and facilities for an eLearning day.
