"AP-NORC Poll Reveals Widespread Pessimism Towards US Democracy Among Americans"

A new poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research reveals that only about 1 in 10 U.S. adults believe democracy is working well in the United States or effectively representing the interests of most Americans. The majority of respondents express dissatisfaction with U.S. laws and policies, believing they do a poor job of reflecting the desires of the public on issues such as the economy, government spending, gun policy, immigration, and abortion. The poll also highlights widespread political alienation and disillusionment with Congress, with 53% of Americans stating that it is doing a bad job of upholding democratic values. Overall, about half of the country believes that democracy is not functioning effectively in the United States, and both political parties are seen as failing to uphold democratic principles.
