Bernie Sanders Takes Controversial Stance on Israel-Hamas Conflict
TL;DR
Senator Bernie Sanders has defended his decision to oppose a permanent cease-fire in Gaza, breaking with progressive Democrats in the House. While progressive "Squad" members have voiced support for a cease-fire, Sanders argues that Hamas militants want a "permanent war" and that a permanent cease-fire is not possible as long as Hamas seeks to destroy Israel. Sanders also criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approach and expressed concern about the impact of the conflict on the Democratic Party ahead of the presidential election.
