Biden administration's stance on aid to Israel remains uncertain

The Biden administration has refused to rule out the possibility of imposing conditions on aid to Israel, after President Biden expressed openness to the idea. Currently, the US provides significant aid to Israel, with over $260 billion given since WWII. Some members of the Democratic Party, including Senator Bernie Sanders, have called for aid to be contingent on Israel backing a two-state solution and ending the blockade in Gaza. The administration has taken credit for a four-day pause in fighting between Israel and Hamas, expressing optimism that it could be extended. Aid has begun flowing into Gaza, and the release of American hostages is expected soon. President Biden is pushing for Congress to pass a $106 billion supplemental aid package, including support for Israel.
