Florida's Attorney General Ashley Moody Opposes Abortion Rights Amendment on 2024 Ballot

A group called Floridians Protecting Freedom has gathered enough signatures to trigger a language review by the state Supreme Court. Moody has notified the court of her intention to argue against the validity of the language, although she did not provide a specific reason. Florida has a history of restricting abortion rights, and if the courts uphold a recent law banning abortion after 15 weeks, a bill signed by Governor DeSantis will further restrict access by banning abortion after six weeks. The proposed amendment, if approved by at least 60% of votes, would protect the right to an abortion until the fetus can survive outside the womb.
