Mother's Fight Against Anti-Transgender Bills After Son's Suicide.

Karen Berg, a Kentucky state senator, is fighting against a wave of anti-transgender bills in the state legislature, eight weeks after her transgender son, Henry Berg-Brousseau, died by suicide. Berg-Brousseau had inspired his mother to run for office and had worked as a press secretary for a major LGBTQ advocacy group. Almost a dozen new anti-trans laws have been proposed in Kentucky, including censoring books on gender, barring doctors from providing hormone therapy to trans teens, and banning them from certain restrooms and locker rooms. Berg is pleading with her colleagues to back away from these laws, for the sake of her son and others like him.
