Poll Reveals Americans' Uncertainty on Blame for Potential Debt Default

Americans are divided on which party to blame if the US government defaults on its debts, with 39% of respondents saying it would be the Republicans' fault and 36% saying it would be the Biden administration's fault. A majority of respondents agreed with President Joe Biden's view that debt payment and federal spending cuts should be handled separately, while only 26% of respondents take the Republican perspective that Congress should only let the government pay its debts if the administration agrees to spending cuts.
