$25K reward offered for finding meteorite that hit Maine

A museum in Maine is offering a $25,000 reward for the remains of a meteorite that landed near the US-Canada border last week. The fireball was visible in broad daylight and created a sonic boom, and was detected by radar, allowing NASA to calculate the "strewn field" where fragments of the meteor might be found. The head of the meteorite division at the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum said he was keen to study any fragments of the meteorite, which could contain valuable information about the solar system. Only eight to 10 meteorites are recovered each year out of hundreds seen falling to Earth.
