"Addressing the Migrant Crisis: Challenges and Solutions in New York City"

As many as 1,000 migrants arrive in New York City each day, overwhelming the shelter system and straining resources. Migrant mothers express concerns about the quality and availability of food for their families in the shelters, with limited options and certain foods not being provided. The city is spending approximately $10 million daily to care for migrants, but federal funding is lacking. Hunger Free America and the City of New York have partnered to connect migrants with food benefits, but there is a need to maximize the use of federal resources. The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program provides some food security for eligible migrants, but additional federal aid is necessary to sustain the level of services being provided.
