"California Braces for Double Storms, Heightening Flood Risk"

Two back-to-back storms, including an atmospheric river event, are set to drench California, raising the risk of flooding and landslides. More than 27 million people are under flood watches, with the first storm priming the region for heavier rain from the second storm. The slow-moving second storm will bring significant flooding threats, with the potential for 1 to 3 inches of rain in lowlands and 3 to 5 inches in higher elevations. Additionally, significant snow accumulation is expected in high elevations, with up to 4 feet of snow in the Sierra Nevada by Wednesday.
