Great Lakes Region Faces Severe Snowstorm and State of Emergency

Upstate New York counties have declared a state of emergency in anticipation of a major snowstorm that has already impacted the Midwest with over two feet of snow. Governor Kathy Hochul announced that 11 counties, including Erie County, are preparing for significant snowfall, with the heaviest expected around Watertown. The state has deployed over 100 National Guard members and additional personnel to assist with potential power and road emergencies. Travel advisories and vehicle restrictions have been issued as lake effect snow is forecast to continue through Monday.
