Impending Storm Threatens Coastal Areas with Severe Weather

Coastal areas in Central Florida are experiencing gusty winds and dangerous surf ahead of a low pressure system developing in the Gulf of Mexico. The system is expected to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes. Chief meteorologist Tom Terry has declared a Weather Alert Day for Saturday through Sunday morning, with the heaviest rain squalls expected on Saturday into early Sunday morning. Communities may see 2 to 4 inches of rainfall or more, and wind gusts over 50 mph are anticipated.
