Lala Lashes Hawaii With Flood Threat and Gusty Winds

Tropical Storm Lala continues to bring life-threatening flooding, heavy rain, and gusty winds to Hawaii, with the Big Island and Maui County bearing the brunt and Oahu/Kauai expected later. Forecasters warn of up to 30–35 inches of rainfall on windward Big Island and 2–6 more inches across the rest of the islands, while winds gust up to around 70 mph (Molokai observed a 92 mph gust). A flood watch/warning and a 1–2 foot storm surge are in effect along portions of the coasts.
