Plains-to-Midwest brace for dangerous Monday storm peak

A multiday severe weather outbreak intensifies across the Plains and Midwest, with a Level 4 of 5 risk for parts of southern Illinois and eastern Missouri (including St. Louis) where EF3+ tornadoes could occur on Monday afternoon. A Level 3 risk extends from the Mississippi Valley into the lower Ohio Valley, bringing threats of tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail, and flash flooding to about 40 million people.
