TL;DR

Thousands of people in Western New York are without power due to severe storms that passed through the area. National Grid and NYSEG have confirmed the outages, with over 11,000 National Grid and 3,400 NYSEG customers affected. The outages are due to branches falling on wires from the strong winds of the thunderstorm. Crews are engaged for restoration.
