Severe thunderstorm watches and warnings were issued for the Chicago area on Wednesday morning, with gusty winds and frequent lightning impacting the region. A tornado watch was in effect for parts of northwest Indiana, and a severe thunderstorm warning remained in effect for LaPorte, Newton, and Jasper counties. After the cold front clears the area, wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour are possible, and a wind advisory will be in effect until 4 p.m.
