Severe storms threaten DC region and ENC this weekend.

The DC region is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 6 p.m. on Saturday, with the possibility of high winds, hail, and brief tornadoes. The storms began in the southern suburbs around 1:15 p.m. and spread throughout the listening area throughout the afternoon. The strongest storms and more widespread damaging wind threat will likely occur just south of the DMV. The region will begin drying out before midnight, and Sunday will be cooler and sunny but still windy. Boaters are warned that conditions on the waterways could be dangerous.
