Severe thunderstorms in Michigan have left over 11,000 residents without power, with Washtenaw County and metro-Detroit being the most affected areas. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center had earlier put southeast Lower Michigan under a tornado watch, but the threat is expected to pass by 11 p.m. While the thunderstorms have the potential to produce a tornado, very large hail is more likely, with wind gusts up to 80 mph even if a tornado doesn’t develop.
