Severe Weather Alert: Heavy Rain, Strong Winds, and Snow Expected

A strong storm system will bring heavy rainfall and the possibility of severe weather, including tornadoes, to southeastern Virginia and parts of the Richmond metro area on Sunday into Sunday night. Rain with embedded thunderstorms will last into the evening, with widespread and heavy rain expected through midnight. Some areas may see accumulations of 1.5 to 2.5 inches, with localized higher totals and minor flooding possible. Rain will change to snow in the mountains, with minor accumulations expected. Skies will clear on Monday, with temperatures in the 30s and a mostly sunny and breezy day ahead. The rest of the week will be dry and seasonably cool.
