Southern US Struggles with Power Outages and Texas Sizzles in Triple-Digit Heat Wave

More than 300,000 customers in the southern US remained without power on Monday due to damaging weekend storms, with the bulk of outages in Oklahoma, where heavy storms carried winds as strong as 80 mph around Tulsa. A heat wave continued to bring dangerous triple-digit temperatures to Texas, and some parts of the state were under excessive heat warnings that were set to continue through at least Wednesday. Power providers warned that some outages may not be fixed until the end of the week.
